The night

A single night’s coverage on Egypt’s North Coast: Doctor Alphonso’s DJ set, then Saint Levant headlining under the LED walls at Silversands.

It ran late — the first frames are around half eleven, and Saint Levant didn’t take the stage until one in the morning. The two sets are two different rooms. Alphonso played to a crowd pressed right up against the booth, close and warm and lit mostly by whatever the screens were doing — shot wide open and slow, letting the movement smear. Saint Levant’s set was a stage show, and the frames change with it: full-length, the crowd in shot, his name in Arabic and Latin across the wall behind him.
